This surfboard brings together the quality of legendary shaper Gary Linden of Linden Surfboards and our St. Frank Ecru Cactus Silk textile pattern. Gary Linden has been a surfer for over 50 years and has been shaping boards for almost as long. He is a founder of the Big Wave Tour and is the oldest active big wave surfer today. This collaboration combines the highest standards of a functional surfboard with artistic expression that can live on the water or your walls.
This surfboard is made from fabric inspired by our vintage Cactus Silk textiles, created by Berber people, indigenous to North Africa. Berber textiles can be identified by region and tribe, detailed with stripes and symbols. The small symbols seen here mimic traditional tattoos that adorn Berber women. The symbols have many meanings, such as longevity, fertility, protection against the evil eye, cures for illnesses, tribal association, and marital status. These textiles were traditionally made from the silk of the Sabra Cactus, but are now made from an alternate natural fiber. Our Moroccan Ecru Cactus Silk fabric is showcased in expert shaped and polished fiberglass for a sleek shortboard ride.
